Kesäreissullamme käteni osui Frankfurtissa lankakaupassa liukuvärjättyyn (tai paremminkin liukukehrättyyn) Rico Designin puuvillasekoitelankaan nimeltä Creative Cotton Dégradé. Kyseessä on siis fingering -vahvuinen sekoitelanka, jossa on 50 % puuvillaa ja 50 % akryylia ja metrejä yhdessä 200 g:n kerässä 800 m. Olinhan jo toki nähnyt näitä liukuvärilankoja aiemmin paljonkin, mutta helteisenä kesäpäivänä kerän kauniit harmaat sävyt ja niiden suloinen liukuminen toisiinsa oli minulle liikaa ja kerä piti ostaa kokeiltavaksi. Huivihan siitä oli tulossa, tietenkin.
Mutta millainen? Vyötteessä valmistaja tarjosi peruskolmiohuivin ohjeen aina oikein silmukoin ja lisäykset toisessa reunassa. Aloitinkin sen innoissani, mutta huivi eteni tuskaisen hitaasti. Intoni loppui lyhyeen. Sitten hoksasin: Dotted Rays! Uutta innostusta lisäsi Ravelrystä bongattu muutama onnistunut versio huivista vastaavasti liukukehrätyistä langoista.
Creative Cottonin väriliukuma on saatu aikaan siten, että nelisäikeisestä langasta yksi säie vaihtuu vaaleammaksi 100 metrin välein. Tylsää tässä oli se, että langassa oli siis solmu aina sävyn vaihtumiskohdassa. En ollut tullut ajatelleksi asiaa etukäteen, vaan kuvittelin langan olevan värjätty liukuen. Noh, tällä reseptillä voisi mainiosti luoda omat väriliukumat ohuita lankoja yhdistämällä ja voisi itse vaikuttaa siihen, millaista kuituyhdistelmää haluaa käyttää.

In our summer trip in Europe, my hand hit a gradient Rico Design cotton blend yarn called Creative Cotton Dégradé in a yarn shop in Frankfurt. This is a fingering yarn blend of 50% cotton and 50% acrylic and meters in one ball 200g / 800m. I had already seen these gradient yarns much earlier, but in a hot summer day I saw just beautiful gray tones and their cute sliding to each other. It was too much for me and I had to buy it for trial. It would be a scarf, of course.
But what kind of scarf? The manufacturer offered the instructions for the basic triangle scarf with the right loops and insertions on the other side. I started to be excited, but the scarf processed too slowly. Then I figured out: Dotted Rays! In addition in Ravelry there were few successful versions of the scarf of gradient yarns. So that was it!
In this yarn the color tone sliding has been made so that one filament of four becomes lighter at 100 m intervals. The problem here is that the yarn always had a knot at the point where the filament is changed. I had not thought about it beforehand, but I imagined the yarn being dyed with a color sliding. Well, this recipe would be great for creating my own color slidings by combining thin yarns and I could actually influence the type of fiber combination I want to use.
