Moi! Piipahdin vain kertomaan, että tänäkin keväänä minun piti neuloa Lehdet -neule.


 Hi there! I wanted just to tell you that I had to knit my Leaves -cardigan again this spring.

Tai piti ja piti... Työkaverini kysyi minulta, neuloisinko puuvillaisen Lehdet -neuleen hänelle, ja minä suostuin. Samalla pääsin tarkistamaan ohjetta. Lisäyksenä laadin neuleeseen lyhennetyt kerrokset selän puolelle parantamaan istuvuutta.

In fact, no one forced me to... A colleague of mine asked me if I would knit cotton yarn Leaves -cardigan for her, and I said yes. At the same time I was able to check the instructions. In addition to compiling I designed short rows in the back of the cardi to improve the fit.

Mukavaa neulottavaa tämä oli - taas kerran. Nyt on kuitenkin saatava puikoille jotakin ihan uutta. Kaikenlaista neuleenpoikasta pyörii kyllä mielessä, mutta enemmän minua kiinnostaa nyt ompeleminen.

 

It was nice to knit this cardi - once again. Now, however, I'll cast on my needles something completely new. All kinds of knitting ideas rotates in my mind, but actually the more I'm interested in sewing this time of year.

 

 

 

 

 

Muutamat ovat kyselleet Lehdet -neuleen ohjetta, mutta olen arkaillut sen julkaisemista. Suurin syy arkailuun on ollut se, että vaikka ohje sinänsä on selkeä, lopputulos ei välttämättä ole toiminut toisilla neulojilla ja erilaisilla käsialoilla. Ystäväni Helena kokeili ohjettani ja onnistui. Hänen palautteensa rohkaisemana Lehdet -neuleen ohje ilmestyy lähitulevaisuudessa joko täällä blogissani tai Ravelryssä.

 

Some  of my readers have asked me knitting instructions of Leaves -cardigan, but I have shy away from its publication. The main reason for this has been that even the notes are clear, but the result was not successful. Finally my friend Helena tried my notes and succeeded, and her feedback encouraged me. So the notes of The Leaves Cardigan will appear in the near future either here on my blog or on Ravelry.

Toinenkin Passap-neule on viimeistelty ja valokuvattu. Esittelin tätä jo aikaisemmin keskeneräisenä.

Another Passap-knitting is finished and photographed. I introduced this in the past as incomplete.

En oikein tiedä, onko tämä jakku vai wrap. Joka tapauksessa sitä voi käyttää myös toisinpäin.

I'm not sure if this is jacket or wrap. In any case, it can also be used the other way around.

En vielä tiedä, meneekö tämä käyttöön vai pistänkö kiertoon. Toisaalta rakenne viehättää minua kovasti, mutta toisaalta tämä vaikuttaa epäkäytännölliseltä. Saas nähdä!

I don't know yet if I use this myself or give away. On the other hand the structure attracts me very much, but on the other hand, this seems impractical to use. We'll see!

Laventeli / Lavender

Tämä neule reissasi heinäkuun mukanani. Nyt se on valmis.

This knitting traveled with me in July. Now it is finished.

Puikot/Needles: 3,5 mm & 3,75 mm

Neuleen idea on sama kuin lehdet -neuleessani. Miehustan levennykset tehdään pitsikuviota suurentamalla.

The idea is the same as my Leaves -cardigan. Increasings for the bust are made in the lace pattern by enlarging the repeat.

Tässä neuleessa on kolme nappia pääntiessä. Niiden avulla neuleen voi kiinnittää eri tavoilla. Pitsikuvion ylimmät langankierrot toimivat napinläpinä.

This cardigan has three buttons at the neckline. They can be fastened a variety of ways. The yarn over holes work as button holes.

Aika hauska siitä tuli, vai mitä?

Koneneulonnan riemua - Joys and sorrows with Passap

En arvannut, miten työlästä onkaan neuloa Passapilla! Koko eilisen päivän turasin sen kimpussa, en kuntosalillekaan malttanut lähteä, kun halusin niin kovasti saada sillä jotakin aikaan. Kokeilin kolmea eri ideaa, ja kaikki epäonnistuivat. Rakenteet, jotka toimivat pienessä mittakaavassa, eivät onnistu oikeassa koossa. Neuleeseen jää reikiä ja neuloutumattomia silmukoita. Reunoihin jää helposti lankalenkkejä. Kaikki mainitut ovat oireita siitä, etten saa säädettyä langankireyttä oikein. Tai osaa. Harmittaa!

I did not realize how arduous it is to knit the Passap! I tried all day yesterday to get something done with it. I didn't even have time to the gym at all. I tried three different ideas, and all were unsuccessful. Structures that act on a small scale, fail to correct size. The machine doesn't work all the stitches. In the edges yarn easily leaves loops. All of these are symptoms of the fact that I should not set the tension properly. Or I just can't use it. Annoying!

Yksi viritelmä sentään toimii. Ensin neulotaan koneella pitkä suorakulmio, noin 55 cm x 185 cm.

One idea after all works. The first I knitted a long rectangle, about 55 cm x 185 cm.

Sitten yhdistetään aloitus- ja lopetusreunat rinnakkain ja yhdistetään 1,5 raidan matkalta. Tästä tulee keskitakasauma.

Then I combined start and end edges side by side and sewed them together with the 1.5 stripe length. This will be the center back seam.

Sen jälkeen yhdistetään keskikohta keskitakasauman kanssa kohdakkain ja yhdistetään sen molemmin puolin yhteensä 3 raidan matkalta. Loput aukosta jäävät kädenteiksi.


Then  the center back seam and the center of the ractangle are placed aligned with and sewed together to the both sides of the track 3 of the way. The rest of the opening will form armholes.

Alahelmaan ja miehustaan neulotaan joustinneuleet. Ensin lyhyt alareuna ja sen jälkeen pitkä sivu. Minä päätin neuloa ne käsin, sillä en jaksanut kikkailla koneen kanssa, vaikka se olisi ollut huomattavasti nopeampaa. Resori olisi pitänyt rakentaa osissa, enkä tässä kohtaa luota siihen, että se onnistuisi.

Next, there will be rib on the hem and front edge. I decided to knit them by hand, because I did not want to  knit with the machine, even though it would have been much faster. Ribs should have been knit in parts, and at this point I don't think that it would work.

Lyhyen alareunan resori käsinneulottuna vei yhden illan. Saa nähdä, miten kauan melkein kaksimetrisen miehustan resorin neulominen vie.

It took one evening to knit by hand short ribbing at the hem. We'll see how long it will take to knit the almost two-meter-long front edge.

Lankana on Aaden 8/2 tummanharmaa ja 13 vuotta lankakaapissa hillottu vaaleanharmaa vironvilla, jonka valmistajasta ei ole tietoa.

The yarn that I used is Aaden 8/2 dark gray. Light gray is also in Estonian but the manufacturer is not known.

Tämä idea ei ole omani. Samankaltainen neule on julkaistu Kauneimmat käsityöt -lehdessä 5/2010, ja sieltä minäkin idean nappasin. Lehdessä ei mainittu mallin suunnittelijaa, mitä heti hieman ihmettelin. En kuitenkaan löytänyt Ravelrystä kyseistä lehden numeroa, enkä vastaavia neuleita suoraan neuleen nimellä tai millään hakusanalla. Eilen sattumalta osui silmiini Ravelryssä tämä neule, jonka nimi on "Oben oder Unten" ja suunnittelija on Jytte Slente. Malli on julkaistu suunnittelijan omassa kirjassa "BC Garn, Ribs, Ridges & Ripples". Heti ensi vilaisulla voinee todeta, että kyseessä on sama neule. Jäin taas kerran ihmettelemään suomalaisen käsityölehden erikoista tapaa. Miksi neuleen suunnittelijaa ei mainita? Eivätkö he ole sen arvoisia?

This idea is not mine. A similar knitting is published in the finnisch craft magazine named Kauneimmat käsityöt  5/2010, and from there I grabbed the idea. The magazine did not mention the designer, what I immediately just wondered. I did not find this issue or any relative projects on the Ravelry database. Yesterday, by chance, this knitting caught my eye on Ravelry. It is called "Oben oder Unten", and the designer is Jytte Slente. The pattern is published in the book "BC Garn, Ribs, Ridges & Ripples". As soon as the first look you can say that this is the same cardigan. I stayed once again marvel at the way in which the finnish craft magazine treats designers. Why don't they mention the designer? Don't they deserve it?

Vanha idea, uusi viritys - Old idea, new implementation

Vietän tällä hetkellä lomaa perheestäni. Toisin sanoen elän kuin pellossa yksikseni kotonani muun perheen majaillessa isovanhempien hellässä huomassa. Suunnittelen, neulon ja ompelen omassa aikataulussani. Syön ja nukun miten haluan. Ihanaa!

I spend a vacation for my family at this time. In other words, I am by myself at home and rest of the family is staying with grandparents being looked after. I design, knit and sew in my own schedule. I eat and sleep the way I want. Lovely!

Rakenne on sama, joka olen kehitellyt Lehdet -neuleessani, samoin lanka on samaa kuin kevään versiossa, Rico Designin Essentials Cotton DK. Uuden, käyttökelpoisen pitsikuvion hakeminen ideaani oli kuitenkin haastavaa, sillä oli olemassa selkeät ehdot, jotka pitsikuvion tulisi täyttää. Kuviota pitää voida suurentaa huomaamattomasti, siinä pitää olla langankiertoja keventämässä neulosta ja pitsissä tulee olla oikeita ja nurjia silmukoita antamassa joustoa.

The structure is the same one that I have developed before in my Leaves Cardigan, as well as the yarn is the same as the spring version, Rico Design Essentials Cotton DK. Finding the new, usable lace pattern was, however, difficult, because there was a clear conditions that lace pattern should be filled. A pattern should be able to increase discretely, there must be yarn overs easing of knitted fabric and there should be some purled stitches to give flexibility.

Tällainen pitsi lopulta löytyi Barbara G. Walkerin kirjasta A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns, nimeltään pilseniläinen laskostus (Pilsener Pleating). Se  muodostuu suorakulmaisista kolmioista, jotka on neulottu vuorotellen nurin ja oikein. Pinta on erittäin kolmiuloitteinen, sillä neulos nimensä mukaisesti laskostuu.

This kind of lace finally found in Barbara G. Walker's book A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns, called Pilsener Pleating. It consists of a rectangular triangles, which is knitted alternately knitting and purling. The surface is highly a three dimensional because, as its name suggests, knitted fabric folds.

Ideani näyttää toimivan. Tosin reunasilmukat kiertävät kumpikin suuntiinsa, senkin riiviöt! Jätän ne kuitenkin sellaisiksi tällä kertaa.


My idea seems to be working. However, the edges of each bent in a different direction, those buggers! I'll leave them to live their own lives.

Pääsin viime viikolla ohikulkumatkalla piipahtamaan vihdoin Jyväskylässä Toivolan Vanhalla Pihalla ja tietenkin Titityyssä, josta toin muutamia Holstin lankoja lahjaksi Passapilleni. Ystävyytemme on vihdoin orastamassa, ja sen tuloksia näette Lepopuikolla pian!


Last week I was able to visit in Jyväskylä and in Titityy yarn store, which I bought a few balls of Holst yarn (both Supersoft and Coast) to my Passap as a gift. Our friendship is finally about to begin, and first results you can see in my blog soon!

Lehdet 3.0 / The Leaves Cardigan 3.0

Valmista tuli.

Aikaa ei nyt valitettavasti ole kunnon kuvaukseen, eikä sanoja kuvailla neuleprosessia, sillä olen todella kiireinen, väsynyt ja stressaantunut, työasioista eniten.

There is no time now, unfortunately, take some great photos in a desired environment. Either I haven't words to describe the knitting process, because I am so busy, tired and stressed out, work matters the most.

Langan väri on kuitenkin kutakuinkin kohdallaan kuvissa, vaikka keväinen aamuaurinko tekee parhaansa ylivalottaakseen kaiken.

The color of the yarn is repeated more or less well in photographs, even though the spring-like morning sun doing its best to bring too much the light.

This is what I'm knitting now.

Lanka on aivan ihanaa, ja neulominen sujuu kuin vettä vaan. Niin ihanaa se on, että kävin viime lauantaina ahnehtimassa sitä lisää kahdessa eri sävyssä. Ahne minä!

The yarn is just wonderful, and the knitting is going fluently. It is so nice that I bought it more in two different colors. I know I am too greedy!

Lehdet 2.0 / The Leaves 2.0

Lehdet -jakun toinen versio on nyt valmis. Uutta tässä versiossa on vajaamittaiset hihat ja pidempi helma. Myös lanka on toinen, Aaden karstavillalanka 8/2, joten nyt olen tietoinen metrimääristäkin.

The second version of the Leaves Cardigan is now completed. New in this version is 3/4 length sleeves and a long hem. Also, the thread is another, Aade carded yarn 8/2, so now I am aware of the weight of the yarn.

Jakun alla on pellavamekko "Stitch Details" uusimmasta Ottobresta  (5/2012) ilman kirjontapistoja ja laskostettuja hihansuita. Mekko on enemmän omaa tyyliäni tällaisena riisuttuna versiona.

Worn under a linen dress "Stitch Details' from latest Ottobre (5/2012) without detailed stitches or pleated cuffs. The dress is more like my style as such a simple version.

Käytin langan viimeistä metriä myöten. Neuloin myös koetilkut mukaan neuleeseen. Pesussa neuloksesta lähti niin paljon mustaa irtoväriä ja muuta tavaraa, että kuivatuksen jälkeen neule oli 10 g keveämpi kuin siihen käytetyn langan massa oli. Pesun ja kuivatuksen jälkeen karstavillasta tuli miellyttävän pehmeää.

I used the yarn down to the last meter. I used the swatches too. During the washing the yarn came off a lot of color and other stuff so much that after drying knitting was 10 g lighter than the mass of the yarn. After washing and drying, carded wool yarn was pleasantly soft.

En tiedä mitä muuta teille kertoisin neuleesta. Olen ihan sanaton, joten tällä kertaa katsellaan kuvia. Jakku on hyvä prototyypiksi, ja olen rakenteeseen niin tyytyväinen, että voisin neuloa sen uudestaankin.

I do not know what else to tell you about the sweater. I'm totally speechless, so this time we just look at pictures. The jacket is a good prototype, and I am so pleased with the structure that I could knit it again.
